We hear that a lot. These are your Frequently Asked Questions.

What is Lark West Lafayette?

It’s a high-quality community designed especially with Purdue University students in mind. Lark features a variety of spacious, furnished apartments and townhomes with available hardwood-style floors, high-speed Wi-Fi, and in-unit laundry, plus a full set of community features such as a fitness center, indoor basketball court, swimming pool, hot tub and more. All just minutes from Purdue, with its own bus directly to campus.

Is Lark part of Purdue University?

No. Lark is a privately owned and professionally managed community. Click here for more information about the management and ownership.

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Lark has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom. What is included in the rent?

Each resident at Lark pays a flat rate that includes:

  • Furnishings
  • Wi-fi throughout the community, plus Ethernet in each bedroom
  • Flat-panel HDTV (in apartments)
  • Trash removal
  • Washer and dryer in each residence
  • On-site management
  • Community features — pool, hot tub, fitness center, etc.
  • Direct bus service to campus

What size are the homes at Lark?

The spacious accommodations at Lark include 3 and 4-bedroom residences in both townhome and apartment floorplans, with a private bathroom for every bedroom. The townhomes even include an extra half-bath. Both layouts are among the largest apartments anywhere in West Lafayette.

Are the homes furnished?

Yes, all apartments and townhomes at Lark include a furniture package.

The apartment furniture package includes a full-size bed, dresser and desk in each bedroom, a leather-style or sofa and love seat, coffee table and entertainment stand with flat-panel HDTV in each living room, plus a dining set or counter stools. The townhome furniture package includes a full-size bed, dresser, desk and chair in each bedroom, a leather-style sectional, coffee table and entertainment stand in each living room, plus a dining set or counter stools.

When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 15, 2024 to July 25, 2025, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Other alternate dates may be available; please inquire with our staff. Click here to see a sample Housing Agreement for apartments or click here to see a sample Housing Agreement for townhomes.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

After a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to secure their financial obligation in one of two ways: by providing a qualifying guarantor (often a parent) or by pre-paying the final 2 installments. In limited cases, we may also waive the requirement for a financial guaranty if a resident has sufficient income of their own.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Lark also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at Lark?

Your living costs at Lark can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Lark. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is Lark open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at Lark West Lafayette are students at Purdue University and the per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Residents/families with children are welcome. There is no extra cost for minor children in the care of adult residents, other than regular charges for each bedroom space selected by the resident. A minor occupying a bedroom space rented by a parent, guardian or person with legal custody is not considered a breach of the Housing Agreement or a violation of the rules. Lark is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. In order to match student roommates in shared apartments, we will request roommate consent for any non-student occupants.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

Lark has electronic locks and individually locking bedroom doors. The apartments have a monitored fire sprinkler system as well. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also on-site and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

Lark is a pet-friendly community with required registration and fee, subject to limits on animals and breed. Lark is a no-smoking community in all indoor and adjacent areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of apartment-mates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at Lark?

Lark offers free surface parking for all residents. Limited guest parking is also available at no charge.
